INDEPENDENCE DAY IN GUATEMALA!!!! The girls are random... but i liked their dresses!! :))) i have a lot of pics but dont have enough time to send them all so this is just a preview!!! :))))))

HELLO FAMILY!!!

HELLO FAMILY!!!! :)))))

this week was a great week!!!! we really saw miracles!! we found a family of 6 this week, their name is the familia velasquez, and they are so great!!! :))) they are so open to hear the gospel and to make it even better, the 3 daughters came to church yesterday!! it was a really great experience to be able to see how excited they were to come to church!! :))) we have only had like 2 lessons with them but i am VERY excited to see how they progress!! :)

also, FRANDY GOT BAPTIZED!!!! :))))))) thats right! it was so great!!! his baptism was at 2 pm and when we got to the church, he was already there!!! (that like never happens, the people here run on CANTY TIME!!! its actually even a little worse than canty time lol) it was so cool! and he was in a white shirt and dress pants ready to go!! his baptism was really great! and he got confirmed on sunday (again he was there before we were...slackers...) Frandy really is a testimony that God prepares people in remarkable ways. i was reading my journal and my agenda to see when was the first time we met him, and it was August 28. HE GOT BAPTIZED IN 3 WEEKS!!!!!! he was VERY ready for this gospel! and he wants to go to the temple!!! :)))))

this week i was reminded of the PRIVELAGE AND BLESSING i have had to be a missionary. i saw some of the hermanas who are serving in mazate, and they were telling me about my converts there. cristian, remember him!? always goes to teach lessons with ALL of the missionaries, in the entire zone!!! and he is preparing to start his mission papers!!!!!!!!! its people like Cristian who make all of the hard days worth it!!!!! i know that he was really prepared by the hand of god to be baptized!!! (as are all of the people who get baptized, but he was so fast!!)

also my comp and i have a phrase that we really like that she found this week!! "No one is predestined to receive less than ALL that the Father has for his children." WOW!!! we were sent here to receive a body and the ordinances necessary to return to live with god, and if we do tht we are promised WORLDS!! and even if we think we arent worthy of these blessings, they are promised to us! and we are PREDESTINED to receive them, why would we strive to receive anything less than ALL that god has for us!? WE DONT WANT TO BE THE FIRST LOSERS!!! we are striving for the state championship, not a 2nd place trophy. we must do ALL we can to receive that blessing!!! :)))))

this week we also wnt to Xetulul!!! it was cool because we went the day after i hit one year in th mission! i have little time left in the mission but also a lot of time! and i want to make the most of this time and be sure i find those people who i promised i would find in the premortal life!!!! i have a great work to do, and its the greatest work i will do!!!! i love you all so much and am very grateful for the famil i have!!! thanks for everything!  your prayers are felt and your love even more!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!! :))

 Dinner time!

My companion and I :))))

From Colorado to Guatemala in 12 Months.

Well, Good Morning Canty Family!

how are you doing? great i hope!!! well as you can see i am writing a little early today bc this friday we are going to Xetulul so we are having a half day of preparation! :))

but anywho...about my week!!

First, our investigators are super pilas, Dilan and Beatriz are progressing but arent sure when they want to get married and baptized, hopefully soon!! :)) la familia hernandez was doing great, but for some unexpected difulculties of neighbors, we are in a pause with them...but they are great!! :))) we have found some REALLY cool people this week, really its been a good week for la obra misional! :)) but just a couple of specific experiences:

1) Frandy
he is our investigator. he was a reference from a menos activa family that we contacted 2 weeks ago. we his a single dad and studies in the morning and works at 5 pm everyday so its a little dificult to have a lesson with him but he is so pilas!! every lesson we have is so great!! he is reading the book of mormon and always shares with us the things he liked most!!! :)) and he came to church yesterday!! and is going to get baptized this saturday!! :)))) the lord prepares people, IM TELLING YOU HE DOES!!!!! :))))

2) Diego and Brayan
They are menos activos, they got baptized 4 years ago and havent been to church or read the book of mormon for 3 years...... we had a lesson for the time with them this week, and in the lesson i asked Diego (the older brother) if he remembered the reason why he got baptized, and he told me he couldnt remember. when i heard that it made me so sad! i thought about my baptism and why I got baptized, i was only 8 years old, but i knew it was important and i wanted to do it. i made it a goal to always remember the reason for which i got baptized. but we invited them to church and they said they come, we didnt think too too much about it bc almost all of the menos activos tell us they will come but dont. but we passed by his house in the morning on sunday (we go to church at 2 pm so we have time to work in the morning.) and he said he was gonna go..again we kinda doubted..(bad missionary moment...) but when we got to the park to meet the bus that takes us to church, DIEGO, BRAYAN, AND THEIR LITTLE SISTER were already waiting in the park!!!!! I was so happy to see them!!!!! they could only stay for sacramente meeting but i know that with time they will stay more. it was a reminder to me that sometimes even just one visit can help people come back to church!!!

3) Martín
he is a convert of our District Leaders. this weekend we helped them with his baptism. a little history about martin, he is VERY poor, in a wheelchair, and VERY humble. the elders had talked about him before i didnt picture him like he was until i saw him, when i saw him i just felt such a spirit!!!!!! his baptism was amazing!!!! when i asked him how he felt, he said GREAT!!! and when we took pics before the baptism his smile was so genuine!!!!!! i gave a short message in the baptism and the whole time i wanted to cry bc i just felt the love of the lord for this humble small guatemalan man. i looked at his feet, which were dirty and didnt have shoes, and at his small body and the only thing that came to my mind was that jesus christ loves him!! there is a reason that only the humble with inherit the kingdom of god, its because only those who know what it feels like to hit rock bottom fully appreciate the GRACE of jesus christ! i have seen lots of baptisms in the mission, some of my converts and some of others, but this was one of the most spiritual baptisms i have been to!!! i dont think i can fully explain the feelings i had that day but itwas a great day!!! another soul was able to enter the celestial kingdom!!!

well this week was really great! hermana romero and i are working really hard to keep san carlos living!!! we are really seeing the hands of god in our work, and i am so grateful for that!!!! i know this work is HIS work and that it is the greatest work i can be doing right now!!!! i never knew i could love complete strangers so much!!!!! but i do!!!! thanks for eveything and good luck with alll this week!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!! :)))))

con amor,

Hermana Canty

ps: funny story of the week, monday my comp and i got really scared in our house bc we heard some weird noises on our roof and we had to call our District Leader to help us!!! 2 grown young women, calling their leader bc they got scared..how embarassing lol and to make it worse...the noises were made by a CAT!!!! there ya go, laugh at me now! ;

this week was an amazing week!! so i will get right to it!!
we had a baptism saturday of hermano Sarbelio. he was truly prepared of the lord! he already had a fecha when i got here and so we just basically prepared him!! he truly understands the importance of baptsim bc he had done things in his life that he knew were NOT good and he knew that he NEEDED baptism!!!! he shared his testimony after he got confirmed and it was so great!! he is truly a humble man, prepared by God!!! :)
also! we have 2 families that we are teaching!! one is dilan and beatriz, from last week!! they are so great!! and are preparing for the wedding and baptism!! :)) and also la familia hernanadez. the elders found them last week when we did an area attack!!! and they are so pilas! they want to just learn nad learn and learn!!! TRULY PREPARED!!!! its amazing to see how the lord works in the lives of everyone!!!! :)))))
this is the month of "abrir la boca!!!" and la familia de oro!! we are opening our mounths and sharing the gospel with everyone!!! NOT FEARING!!! and finding the family of gold! Small Miracles :)

Hey Hey Hey!! :) its a beautiful SUNNY day here in Reu!! :))

well i loved your emails, thank you so much for emailing me each week! i love hearing about how you all are! good luck with ALL activities this week!! :)

anywho! this week was a week of Small Miracles!! :)) it started Tuesday, we were trying to contact this lady who we met last sunday (super cool!) but she wasnt home! and as we were standing outside of her house this other girl passed by and i just felt the need to talk to her so i asked her if she knew where the other lady was, well she didnt and then continued on her way. well as we were standing there waiting to figure out what to do, this guy started whistleing at us, like all the men do here...but the girl who passed by turned around and said, "hes telling you girls to come here" in a joking voice. but we didnt have anything else planned so we walked over there. we went with the mentality that it was just gonna be a weird lesson and nothing was gonna come of it. but it turns out that this girl, whose name is Beatriz, and the guy, Dilan, live together, dont go to a church, and want to learn more. MIRACLES!!!! normally we ignore the men, but we listened! and we found a family!! :)) also to make it even more miraculous, they came to church this sunday!!!!!:)) i know that heavenly father is watching over san carlos! its not an easy area, and there are days where we walk around without finding anyone, but i also know that heavenly father is there with us and has people ready for this gospel!!!!

also i just want to give a little advice, this week is the elections here in guatemala and things are super crazy haha and so we are buying a bunch of food storage for emergencies! but do we as a family have food storage?? or at least a 72 kit ready and put together?? idk, just htis week i was thinking about that. for 2 days we didnt have electricty and we were a little unprepared for that, abnd it got me thinking about home and if we have the preparations. just a thought... :)))

well this week was a good week, but i dont have too much time!! good thing i have my journal!! ;)) anywho! just want you all to know that God works through many ways! he has a plan and he works by small miracles everyday. keep your eyes open for these miracles and if you can,w rite them down and read them again in a few months! you will be amazed!!! :))) i love you all so much and i am so grateful for you! i love this gospel and my Savior Jesus Christ! he lives and we are in work!! :)) have a great week!!! :))) I LOVE YOU!!
